What is Bio-Biloba?- Ginkgo Biloba, also known as the maidenhair tree, is one of the worlds oldest living tree
species.
- The benefits of Ginkgo biloba can be attributed to two groups of active compounds: flavone glycosides and terpene lactones.
Why do we need Bio-Biloba?
- Ginkgo flavone glycosides make up 24% of the extract and are primarily responsible for Ginkgo
Bilobas antioxidant activity and may also mildly inhibit platelet aggregation (blood stickiness).
- These in combination may help prevent circulatory problems
- May support the brain and central nervous system.
- Terpene lactones make up 6% of the extract, they are associated with increasing circulation to the
extremities and brain, thus enhancing tissue utilisation of oxygen and glucose and protecting tissues from free radical attack.
Who May Benefit from this Supplement?
- Its primary use is as an adjunctive therapy for improving arterial circulation.
- It has been shown to be effective in improving circulation to the hands and feet thus reducing the effects of Raynauds Disease, chilblains and intermittent claudication (pain, cramping).
- Increased blood supply to the brain may help to preserve mental function, especially in the elderly, i.e. prevention and recovery from strokes, poor short-term memory and senile dementia.
- Ginkgo Biloba has also been shown to be effective in slowing the progression of symptoms associated with mild to moderate cases of Alzheimers disease.
- In addition, improved blood flow to the eyes and ears may inhibit the development of macular degeneration and Tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
- Increased blood flow to the genitalia improves sexual function.
